Grange Kidz aims to help the children attending our club to develop self-discipline and respect for the needs of others.

Grange Kidz will use positive role models in their provision of play to promote good behaviour.

At no time will any child be physically punished or deprived food or drink.

Parents will be consulted regularly regarding their children.  Any problems arising will be dealt with promptly with parental co-operation.

 Grange Kidz aims to:

Anticipate and remove potential problems.

Redirect problem behaviour.

bullet

Positively reinforce and encourage good behaviour.

bullet

Consult parents as early as possible regarding any areas of concern.

Grange Kidz will manage behaviour based on the following guidelines:

Positive behaviour such as good manners and helpfulness will be rewarded.

bullet

Negative behaviour such as rudeness and unkindness will be challenged.

bullet

Children will be taught the consequences of their actions.

bullet

Children will be involved in the making of club rules.

bullet

Explanations will always be given for rules.

bullet

Staff will be fair, consistent and non-discriminatory.

bullet

Children will be encouraged to resolve arguments among themselves using negotiation.

bullet

If a child’s actions are causing danger or distress to other children, they will be removed from the play activity in question.

bullet

A ‘cooling off’ period will be used as a means of diffusing difficult situations.

bullet

Humiliation, threats and physical punishment will NEVER be used.

bullet

If a child’s behaviour is an ongoing concern, the parents/guardians will be invited to meet with staff to help resolve any issues.

Grange Kidz will encourage the children to form their own committee to provide feedback on care, equipment and activities.  The children will be asked what they would like in the way of new equipment and new activities, and will be expected to help look after toys and games.
