Bullying will not be tolerated at
Grange Kidz. Together with the children, we came up with the
following definitions and anti-bullying guidelines.
Bullying includes:
 |
Being nasty or
unkind to another child |
 |
Hurting some one’s
feelings deliberately |
 |
Threatening another
child |
 |
Refusing to share or
play with a specific child |
 |
Ganging up on a
child |
 |
Name-calling and
unwelcome teasing |
 |
Physical means such
as kicking, punching, pinching, pulling hair and
pushing |
 |
Breaking another
child’s possessions deliberately |
The children came up with the
following guidelines if a child is being bullied at Grange
Kidz.
 |
Tell an adult
straight
away |
 |
Tell your friends
and ask them to stay near you |
 |
Ask the bully to
leave you alone and tell them that you don’t like what they are
doing – they might not realise they are upsetting you |
 |
Ignore the bully and
walk away |
 |
DO NOT FIGHT OR HIT
THE BULLY – a member of Grange Kidz staff will sort out the problem
without violence. |
The child accused of bullying will be
given a chance to explain their side of whatever has happened. Where
ever possible, the situation will be resolved there and then between the
children.
An incident report
form will be completed and both sets of parents/carers will be informed of
what has happened. If the situation does not improve, a meeting will
be arranged with senior staff to discuss options and behaviour management
strategies.
